Mission Statement — The Richard Montero Legacy Foundation The Richard Montero Legacy Foundation honors the life and legacy of Richard Montero who died in a motor vehicle accident by providing hope, support, education, and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. Inspired by Richard’s unwavering love for his daughter and his lifelong commitment to helping others, our mission is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health especially in law enforcement, empower families of all cultures, connect individuals with vital resources, and create opportunities for healing, education, and personal growth. Richard never stopped believing in his daughter. His legacy will continue by helping others find the strength, support, and opportunity to move forward.
A Life Well Lived
Richard Montero was the kind of man who made every room happier just by walking into it. Born in Manhattan, NY, and raised in Venezuela.
For 62 years, Richard lived with a generosity of spirit that touched countless lives. Whether he was lending a hand to a neighbor, sharing a meal with family, or simply offering a kind word to a stranger, Richard gave freely of himself in every season of life.
He is survived by his daughter, Lolybeth, and a family who carry his warmth, his laughter, and his love towards mental health and law enforcement forward every single day.
He didn't just live in this community — he wanted to be a part of this community.

His Legacy
Richard's passing in Adairsville left a wound in the hearts of all who knew him — but it also ignited a determination in his family to ensure that his memory would bring light to others facing similar loss.
The Montero Legacy Fund was founded in his honor by Lolybeth, mother Mercedes, and the Montero family. Through scholarships and financial aid, the fund extends Richard's lifelong spirit of generosity to families in crisis — turning grief into purpose, and loss into lasting legacy.
